Dilution Instructions
Our Artisan Pure Castile Soap is a CONCENTRATE. Dilution is necessary in most cases before use. Below are some ways you can use our soap, and how to dilute it!
All-Purpose Cleaner: Mix 1 part Great Lakes Castile Co. CONCENTRATE with 10 parts water. You can put it in a spray bottle for easy cleaning!
Dish Soap: Add a few drops of Great Lakes Castile Co. CONCENTRATE to a sponge or dishcloth. Wash dishes by hand as usual. You can also add some vinegar to the rinse water for a streak-free finish.
Fruit and Vegetable Wash: Fill your sink with water and about 1/8 teaspoon of Great Lakes Castile Co. CONCENTRATE for a standard-sized sink, 1/2 teaspoon for a larger sink. Submerge the produce in the water and wash with a washcloth or sponge to remove dirt, then rinse and dry.
Face Wash: Fill a dispenser bottle with a 50/50 dilution of Great Lakes Castile Co. CONCENTRATE and distilled/purified water. Pump a small amount on a washcloth and add some water to lather!
Liquid Hand Soap/Foaming Hand Soap: Check out our Hand Soap Refills! Alternatively, fill a soap dispenser bottle with a 50/50 dilution of Great Lakes Castile Co. CONCENTRATE and distilled/purified water.
Mild Head-to-Toe Baby Wash: Mix 1 part Great Lakes Castile Co. CONCENTRATE with 4 parts distilled/purified water. Make sure to keep the soap mixture away from baby's eyes!
Mopping Cleaner: Mix about 2 tablespoons of Great Lakes Castile Co. CONCENTRATE in a gallon bucket of water. Do not soak floors, especially wood. Wring out excess water before mopping.
Laundry Soap: For a regular top load washer, use up to 1/8 cup of Great Lakes Castile Co. CONCENTRATE. Smaller loads or high efficiency washers (even if top loaders with a deep fill option) will require much less. You can add about 1/2 cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle (less for smaller loads) to help cut any residue.
Shampoo: Use up to 1/2 tablespoon of Great Lakes Castile Co. CONCENTRATE and add to some water to lather. If you have short hair, all you need is a couple of drops. Rinse hair with diluted apple cider vinegar for a pH balanced finish! (Do not use castile soap if you have color-treated hair.)
Body Wash: Make a 50/50 dilution of Great Lakes Castile Co. CONCENTRATE and distilled/purified water.
Pet Shampoo: Use your best judgement on amount of Great Lakes Castile Co. CONCENTRATE, based on your pet’s size and type. Be generous, but rinse thoroughly. It is recommended you rinse hair/fur with diluted apple cider vinegar to keep a pH balance.
